Alarm field in Meeting Events syncing with Google is disabled

If you're syncing with Google Calendar, adding an alarm to a meeting invitation is not supported (by Google). This option is thus disabled.

You need to instead use "My Alarms" (you can enable these from Preferences > Info Panel > Enable My Alarm).
